A Post NP student's clinicals happen at home, which makes your state as big a factor in the plan as your course. What the state table decides
Post's NP disclosure answers Yes for all three specializations in 42 states, Yes for the FNP and AGPCNP only in California, and No in seven states where Post does not enroll NP students at all. You need to live and hold your RN license in a state with a Yes, and clinicals in another state need Post's approval first.

Can I do Post clinicals outside my home state?
Only with Post's prior approval, and only in a state on Post's approved list where you also hold an active, unencumbered license. A compact RN license can count where the other state is in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Which states are closed to Post's NP programs?
Post's table answers No for Arizona, Kansas, Louisiana, New York, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington, as well as DC and the territories, and Post does not enroll NP students living there. Kansas moved to that list after the 2023 version of the table.
Does Post's PMHNP work in California?
Post's table lists only the FNP and AGPCNP for California, so the PMHNP is not an option for California residents. California students also complete a California-only NP preceptor form.
Is the state table up to date?
It carries no date. The version we read is the one Post links from its State Approvals page, last archived in February 2026, so confirm your state on the live table before you enroll or move.
