What to put in your message
The more we know on the first message, the sooner a search can start. None of this needs documents; a line or two for each is plenty.
- Your specialization: FNP, AGPCNP, PMHNP, a DNP track or a non-NP MSN track.
- Your next preceptorship course by its Post code, such as
N 581,N 589orN 565, and the month its term starts. - Your home town or ZIP code, plus the longest commute to clinicals you would accept.
- Each state that has issued you an active RN license, and whether yours is multistate.
- The days and hours you can give a preceptor; a 135-hour course in an 8-week term averages about 17 hours a week.
- Work already underway, for example a clinician who has not said no yet, an affiliation request on file, or notes from the Clinical Coordinator.

If your term is close
Put the deadline at the very top: course code, the Monday the term begins, and which packet items are still open. An incomplete Week 1 packet ends your place in that term's clinical course, so a message that opens with "Week 1 is in ten days" gets handled first. Preceptors and practices
Clinicians open to teaching a Post student are welcome here too. Pick the last option in the program menu, the one for preceptors, and describe your specialty, the state that licenses you and the days a student could join your clinic. We explain Post's requirements, the preceptor agreement letter and the affiliation agreement before anything is signed. The preceptor page sets out what Post asks of you.

Some answers belong to Post. Approval of a preceptor or site, your registration, a clinical-hour extension and anything in the non-public NP Clinical Guidelines are for the Clinical Coordinator or your assigned Student Success Advisor. We are glad to explain what Post's catalog says and which office to ask.

Questions Post students ask
When is the right time to reach out about a preceptorship?
As early as you can, ideally a full term or more ahead. The preceptor, the signed letter and the affiliation agreement must all be in place when Week 1 closes, and a few boards expect advance word of the clinical plan, as much as 60 days out.
My preceptor is already lined up. Is there still work for you?
Often, yes. We can check the preceptor against Post's standard, gather the preceptor's credentials, get the letter signed, and line up the affiliation agreement request, or find the site or backup preceptor you still need for later courses.
Can you place me if I live outside Connecticut?
Yes. Post's online NP students are spread across the United States, so our searches follow you: any state that licenses you as an RN and that Post's NP disclosure marks Yes for your track. For the DNP and the non-NP MSN, which have no state table, we look near where you live and work.
Can I send documents through the form?
There is no need at the start. The first message only has to describe your track, course, location and timing. Documents such as your RN license report come later, when a preceptor has agreed and the Week 1 packet is being assembled, and your placement advisor tells you what is needed then.
