Post University NP clinicals in Delaware: a Yes state whose board wants paperwork first
Delaware earns a Yes for all three nurse practitioner tracks in Post University's current NP disclosure. The catch is timing: Delaware's board wants to hear about an outside school's students, and to see their preceptors' names and licenses, before anyone starts in a Delaware clinical facility. That pulls your search earlier than Post's Week 1 deadline alone would.

Delaware's row in Post's NP disclosure
Post's table uses the title Certified Nurse Practitioner, marks both the license question and the prescribing question Yes, and points to the Delaware Board of Nursing, which the Division of Professional Regulation houses.

No collaborative agreement appears in the row, consistent with AANP's full practice rating for Delaware, so experienced NPs there practice on their own authority.
The board's checklist for schools from other states
Delaware writes its expectations out in detail. A school based elsewhere tells the board before it uses a Delaware clinical facility, then sends a file of its own:
- proof that its home state's board approves it, or that it is nationally accredited
- the signed agreement it holds with each clinical agency
- its own bar for who may teach clinically or precept
- who those people are, by name, and where each one is assigned
- a current license copy for each of them, Delaware-issued or multistate
The citation is 24 Del. Admin. Code 1900, section 2.4. Facilities also need the board's approval, granted on the school's forms, before a student is placed there, and board staff may inspect. Nothing in these standards exempts graduate study; they speak of all nursing education programs. At Post, state rules are the business of the clinical coordinator and the compliance officer, and the catalog cautions that certain boards expect notice of a clinical plan as much as 60 days out. A preceptor definition to check
Delaware's rulebook reserves the word preceptor for a nurse: licensed, and educated to the BSN level or beyond. A second provision is aimed at online programs: when their faculty teach or precept on site in Delaware, the license or privileges they carry must reach the level of practice the student is preparing for, if not go beyond it. Read together, those lines point toward an NP-level nurse as the preceptor for an NP student.
Post's 2025-26 catalog lets a physician, MD or DO, precept NP students too. If you are weighing a physician for a Delaware rotation, ask the Clinical Coordinator how Post squares that with Delaware's definition before you commit. The general standard is on the preceptor requirements page.
Where Delaware NP students search
Roughly 588,000 Delaware residents fall within the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington metro. Dover's metro and the Seaford area downstate account for most of the others. Hospital systems include Bayhealth, Beebe Healthcare and ChristianaCare; for pediatrics, Nemours Children's Health, a system spanning several states, has its Delaware hospital in Wilmington.
These names show where Delaware NP care is delivered; none should be read as a host for Post students, and each practice needs an affiliation agreement with Post on top of the board filing. FNP students planning N 589, the maternal and child preceptorship covering birth through adolescence, need primary care hours, so a pediatric or family practice fits where a hospital unit would not.
License and compact status
Post's row accepts a Delaware or multistate license, and Delaware has issued the multistate kind since January 2018. The APRN Compact is on Delaware's books too, signed into law on August 4, 2021. It is not live: the compact needs seven enacting states before it can operate, and until it gets them it does nothing for your clinicals or for the NP license you will apply for.

Does Delaware's board have to approve my clinical site?
In effect, yes. Under Delaware's rules the board clears each facility used for clinical experience before a student is placed, working from forms the school files, and schools based elsewhere notify the board in advance. Post files as the school, so hand the Clinical Coordinator your site and preceptor details early.
Can a physician precept me in Delaware?
Post's catalog accepts an MD or DO. Delaware's rulebook, however, describes a preceptor as a licensed nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing or more, and the school's filing lists preceptor licenses. Before you choose a physician for a Delaware rotation, ask the Clinical Coordinator how Post handles that definition.
Can Delaware's APRN Compact membership carry my NP license to other states?
Not today. Delaware's 2021 enactment counts toward the seven states the compact needs before it operates, and that mark has not been reached. Until it is, a Delaware NP license works in Delaware alone, and your multistate RN license covers RN practice in compact states, not NP practice.
Which Post tracks can Delaware residents take?
Any of the three. Delaware's row covers the FNP, the AGPCNP and the PMHNP. The two primary care tracks each carry 540 precepted hours; the psychiatric track carries 630, across five courses. Post's DNP and non-NP MSN specialties have no state table at all, since they are post-licensure programs that lead to no new license.
